BUHARI MINISTERS; MAKING IT WORTH THE WAIT

- By Isuosuos Samson Donbrando

President Muhammadu Buhari

The APC government was sworn-in May 29 to pilot the affairs of this country for four years. Since the swearing in, the speculations have been fever pitch and as it takes the president Muhammadu Buhari longer to name his ministers, so has the anxiety and speculations heightened. It is already 47 days under president Muhammadu Buhari's government without ministers, Secretary to the Federal Government,  Attorney General nor Chief of Staff. This development has been credited too with the gradual slide of the Naira to the dollar in the forex market, slow info of Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) and other markers that have direct crunching effects on Nigeria and her people.

When Nigerians voted enmass for then General Muhammadu Buhari, it was in the belief and hope that he is the only one with the capacity to face the myriad of problems that bedevil us headlong. This belief is wavering in the heart and minds of many that believed, ran and voted the #CHANGE PMB  promised. The faith of the faltering can be excused political analysts says. "...for the momentum gathered during campaigns cannot be sustained if deep and far reaching reforms must be embarked upon to guarantee change as promised" posited an analyst.

The wait may be wearing and tiring for the average Nigerian that expect magical changes overnight. But the wait must be made worth the while like pregnancy and painful childbirth that is quickly forgotten as the baby is born blooming beautiful and radiant. Buhari must make haste slowly and surely to meet the legitimate yearnings of supporters and critics in record time to give the change slogan more than a mantra posture but a creed of some sort.

I won't hesitate to quickly advice PMB to thread cautiously the path of politics and quality governance. For no one can survive without the other and too much of one in the mix spells doom. As he settles political friends and party faithfuls in his appointments, he should take into serious cognisance the need to stay afloat politically and to deliver on promises made. To this end, let his ministers and other appointees not disappoint the good people of Nigeria and rib him of their support.
