Sugar Causes Slumber

A research recently conducted on mice, shows that after consuming sugar, they tend to slumber. This findings contradict the common believe that sugar leads to hyperactivity. This research was published in the Journal of Neuroscience on July 8.

According to Christophe Varin of Lyon Neuroscience Research Center and ESPCI Paris Tech in France "We all experience this strong feelings of sleepiness after a very large meal. Sugar is the reason why those post-meal naps are often irritable".

This might explain why I always feel really sleepy after a cup of garri and groundnut, in a hot afternoon. As a matter of fact before seeing this research results, I had suggested to my friends that they take a cup of garri and groundnut or Pap whenever they need to sleep, but they have always laughed me off, only if I had known that this  could have been a groundbreaking discovery.

In conclusion, this research has been able to give me good insight on how to run my day, now I know, that a cup of sugary tea in the morning will not be so good, and also when I need to work at night, a cup of plain coffee will just do.
